We are very happy to inform you, that fews.tv, formerly known as breaking news map, starts today in its beta version.

So, what's new?

First of all, we've change the name on a new one - fews.tv, which is now a little bit shorter and also better reflects the idea of the site. fews is an abbreviation of feed news - the news over (RSS) feeds and .tv domain stands for our ambitions completely replace the news television :-).

Here is the summary of the some new features:

multiple news sources
advanced view properties I : show the news from the certains locations
advanced view properties II: "weighted" options for the news categories
improved UI for better news presentation
text-to-speech output (currently in the test phase in low quality and for limited number of news only)

In our last survey we asked your opinion what new features you await from the BreakingNewsMap site.

Here are the results:

Some of the "custom" suggestions (the other option) were:

Less US news, more world news
wish I could click on any country and get their breaking news
more intenational news asian news south american news africa news
more speed controls ... divide it to 8 speeds instead of 4
internationalization (more languages)

So it was obviously for us to define the next development goals as follows: more news sources, more non-US content, news in other than English languages.
